Who we are

Cove is run by [Company legal name], a company registered in [Governing law — e.g. England and Wales] under number [Company number], at [Registered address]. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Cove. By using Cove you agree to them. They are written in plain English and are not legal advice.

The service

Cove gives a team text channels, direct messages and voice rooms with presence. Everyone in a workspace has a room with a door that shows whether they are Available or Focused, and people can talk, share video and share their screen.

Cove is built for small teams at work. People join a workspace by being invited to it, or by creating their own. How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Accounts and workspaces

• You need an account to use Cove. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Give accurate details, and use a name the people you work with will recognise.
• A workspace has an owner and can have admins. They decide who is invited, can change the workspace’s settings, and can remove people.
• If you create a workspace, you are its owner and are responsible for how it is used and for having the right to add the people you invite.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Cove to:

• break the law or help anyone else break it
• harass, threaten or abuse anyone
• share content you don’t have the right to share, or that is illegal or harmful
• send spam, including through invites
• try to get into accounts, workspaces, rooms or data you aren’t allowed into
• disrupt Cove, overload it, or probe it for weaknesses without our permission
• record people in a call without telling them

Your content

You own what you write and upload. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show it, only as far as needed to run Cove for you and your workspace, including sending it to the people you share it with and to the service providers named in our privacy policy.

Content in a workspace belongs to that workspace’s conversations. Owners and admins can see and manage workspace content, including deleting messages. If you leave or are removed, what you wrote there stays, so the conversation still makes sense to the people in it.

You are responsible for what you share. We don’t review conversations, but we may remove content or restrict access if we are told it breaks these terms or the law.

Third-party services

Voice, video and screen sharing are carried by Daily.co. Cove does not record calls. Other parts of Cove rely on providers too, listed in our privacy policy. We choose them carefully, but we can’t promise they will always work.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Cove running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or a provider’s outage. We improve Cove over time, which means features may change or be removed. If a change takes away something important, we will try to tell you first.

Suspension and ending

• You can leave a workspace at any time. You lose access, and what you wrote there stays.
• You can delete your account in Settings. This removes your login, name, phone number, position and photo. Messages you wrote in shared conversations stay, shown as from a former member.
• If you own a workspace that has other people in it, make someone else the owner before you leave it or delete your account.
• We may suspend or close an account or workspace that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Where it’s reasonable, we will tell you why first.

Disclaimers and liability

Cove is provided as it is. We don’t promise it will be free of errors or always available. Keep your own copy of anything you can’t afford to lose.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of [Governing law — e.g. England and Wales], and its courts deal with any dispute.

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in Cove or by email before it takes effect.
